This project is designed to introduce robotics and advanced technologies into schools, art galleries, museums, and libraries, fostering a deeper appreciation and understanding of these disciplines.
The initiative celebrates the intersection of artistic vision and technological innovation, with Zoe Sever’s acclaimed exhibition, ‘A Star Above Jerusalem,’ serving as the centerpiece. This installation is a tribute to the city of Jerusalem, recognized for its sacred significance across various religions.
The exhibition explores three central themes:
The Celestial Journey – Visualized through treble and bass clefs in the heavens, representing the transition from the earthly to the ethereal.
Esoteric Symbolism – Investigating the deeper meanings embedded in spiral patterns and other symbolic elements.
Symbolic Color Palette – Utilizing gold, crimson, and azure to metaphorically narrate the soul’s ascent from the mundane to the imaginative, illustrated through the serene imagery of a resting donkey.
A distinctive feature of this installation is an immersive performance that exemplifies the harmonious relationship between humanity and robotics. In a compelling demonstration, a robotic arm intricately sculpts ephemeral sand canvases, depicting the profound symbols from Sever’s artwork. These sand creations are then gently erased by human hands, symbolizing the transient nature of artistic expression and the delicate balance between creation and destruction.
Artist Zoe Sever reflects on this unique interplay: “The performance captures the essence of existence not as a mere cycle but as an expansive spiral. It illustrates the spiral motif, prevalent in art, as a symbol connecting galaxies, DNA strands, natural phenomena, and ancient motifs. This interplay between machine and human artistry illuminates both scientific and mystical perspectives on time and creativity.”
