Atlant, a manufacturer of brackets and other metal products, employs around 40 people and produces 700 tonnes of various metal structures every month. Recently, the company faced a serious problem. A large batch of brackets failed quality control due to welder errors, and the time required to correct these errors exceeded the deadlines specified in the contract.
The owner had been contemplating the idea of robotization for an extended period, diligently investigating various alternatives. However, a definitive decision was elusive without a compelling catalyst. The sudden crisis served as the much-needed stimulus, propelling him into decisive action regarding the implementation of robotics.
Instead of risking losing an important client or violating the terms of the contract, the company owner decided to accelerate the implementation of the “All-in-One” Solution for Welding.
Considering Atlant team’s readiness for implementation and the preliminary elaboration of technological processes, the cobotic solution was implemented in record time – in one day.
ABOUT EFFICIENCY AND SOCIAL IMPACT
Anton, the factory owner, is convinced of the profitability of robotics. With an air of excitement, he says:
One cobotic solution is worth the same as four welders and outshines them all when it comes to the quality of welding.
Beyond productivity and quality, the introduction of robotic solutions makes jobs more skilled and safer, unveiling new possibilities. Indeed, it’s a step towards gender equality in the industry. In the past, it was rare to see a female welder on the factory floor. Today, they can become operators of robotic welding solutions, bringing their keen attention to detail to ensure top-notch quality.
ABOUT THE FUTURE
4 welders = 4 operations
1 operator / 1 cobot = 4 operations
1 operator / 1 cobot
3 welding stations
2 zones=24 operations
Labor Efficiency
‘All-in-One’ welding solution allows for the installation of up to three welding stations, each potentially working on different parts or stages of the process. This multi-station approach enhances productivity by allowing simultaneous operations, reducing the time taken for a single part’s completion. It features a dual-zone configuration, a significant upgrade from traditional single-zone setups. While the cobot is actively welding in one zone, the operator can simultaneously remove completed parts and set up new workpieces in the second zone.
Moreover, the solution’s compatibility with various types of welding, including laser welding, reduces the need for multiple specialized machines. This capability makes it possible to weld very thin non-ferrous metal parts, which would be challenging with manual welding. As a result, the automated welding is of much higher quality than manual welding.
We’ve priced our welding solution competitively.
The total cost of ownership, encompassing the initial purchase price, installation, and training, starts at 64,000euros for the C10 laser welding model. Please note, the final cost may vary depending on the specific configuration chosen to best fit your needs.
Plus, given its ability to service multiple stations simultaneously and operate round-the-clock, you can expect a payback period as short as 12-16 months or even less.
